Visiting Southern Michigan

Michigan features an expansive and impressive travel landscape. Top attractions for all ages, sterling outdoor recreation spots, and plenty of welcoming cities and towns make it easy to enjoy a visit. Plan your next journey through the Great Lakes State and head for the southern region where, this fall and winter, you’ll be treated to an array of premier events, festivals, concerts, and more.

Across the “bottom of the mitten,” as some would say, you’ll find inviting cities like Saugatuck, out west along Lake Michigan, and cities closer to Detroit like Livonia and Woodhaven. And nestled in between, you can check out Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, or Coldwater. There’ll be plenty to see and do across the entirety of southern Michigan this fall and winter.

Just outside of Kalamazoo you’ll find the city of Scotts. Scotts will be hosting the Tillers\’ 14th Annual Community Harvest Fest on September 18th. Take the whole family over to Tillers\’ 430-acre farm for a full day of demonstrations, games, events, music and more. Just $15 per vehicle.

The fall and winter in the Kalamazoo and southern Michigan area can mean many things, but there’s no doubting how fanatic locals are for their Western Michigan Broncos football. Make your way to Waldo Stadium for a slew of games this fall – on September 24th, the Broncos host Georgia Southern, on October 22nd the in-state rival Eastern Michigan Eagles will be in town, and they’ll close our their season versus Toledo on November 25th.

Be sure to plan some time to explore Saugatuck this fall. On November 5th, the Belvedere Restaurant will be hosting their Wine Pairing Dinner. This foodie favorite will feature regional wines from Michigan, paired expertly with a six-course gourmet meal prepared by local top-chef Shaun Glynn.

You’ll be treated to an impressive list of bands performing this fall and winter in southern Michigan. Head to the Kalamazoo State Theatre on December 15th to see Wizards of Winter live on stage, and just to the south of downtown Kalamazoo you’ll find the village of Schoolcraft. On December 16th, the Dani Jamerson Band will be performing live at Bud’s Bar – this is truly a must-see show this winter near Kalamazoo.
