Northern & Southern Michigan Motorcycle Rides

Touring the Great Lakes State

Michigan motorcycle rides

Get on Your Bikes and Ride... in Michigan

Take to the motorcycle trails of Michigan like you own the place. Whether winding down the road on your new Harley Davidson motorcycle, or riding passenger through the Michigan countryside, you’re sure to be impressed.

Hit the Tunnel of Trees Road for a two-wheeled adventure with a twist in northern Michigan, or saddle up for the Blue Star Memorial Ride through southern Michigan. Start looking forward to state parks, beautiful beaches and fabulous golf along the way.

Before starting your adventure through the Great Lakes State, keep these tips in mind:

Keep an eye out for road signs and Michigan wildlife.

Helmets are mandatory for all riders.

Consider the direction of the rising or setting sun before you hit the road.

Keep an emergency kit. You might not be able to get a signal.

Tunnel of Trees Road

The best keep secret in the Great Lakes State is the Tunnel of Trees Road in northern Michigan. Motorcyclists start in the town of Harbor Springs on Little Traverse Bay, ending in Cross Village after 22 miles of narrow yet scenic roadway. The trail follows Michigan State Route 119 – otherwise known as North Lake Shore Drive – along Lake Michigan’s eastern shore. Stop in Cross Village for lunch and shopping, or continue your trek north to Wilderness State Park. This ride is a treasure throughout the year, but best experienced in the fall.

Head back to your starting point after twisting your way down the Tunnel of Trees Road, and check into the Best Western hotel in Harbor Springs. If you want to extend your journey, head further south and rest up at the Best Western hotel in Petoskey.

Blue Star Memorial Ride

Follow these Michigan roads on iron horseback for an unforgettable adventure. The Blue Star Memorial Ride is over 100 miles of motorcycle path, taking you from New Buffalo to Grand Haven along I-94 East and I-196 North.

Start in the Michigan town of New Buffalo in the southwest part of the state, and head north on the Red Arrow Highway. Need a place to stretch out? Visit Lake Michigan Beach, or stop for lunch as you roar through River Bluff Park in Saugatuck. Maybe even check out the West Ottawa Golf Club in Holland. End your journey in Grand Haven – just west of Grand Rapids – and check out Grand Haven State Park while you're in town.

After you reach the city, turn around and do the whole thing again on your way back to New Buffalo, or take a break in Grand Haven. Need to pull over along the way? Try Saugatuck. You're all covered as you rip and roar through Michigan any time of year.
