Comerica Park

As the home of the Detroit Tigers, Comerica Park is set in downtown Detroit, right next to Ford Field. Opened in 2000, Comerica Park seats more than 41,000 fans on game day. Travel in from detroit suburbs like Livonia, Roseville, or Romulus during the summer and watch one of the most iconic baseball franchise slug their way back to the playoffs. During the season, Friday and Saturday home games end with a fireworks display in the park, win or lose. 

Detroit Historical Museum

Visit downtown Detroit on your trip through the Motor City. Aside from an assortment of professional sporting events, and lake side activity, there's a range of historic sights to check out. Drive in from southern Michigan and check out the Detroit Historical Museum. Here, guests from cities like Allen Park, and Romulus can explore the rich and deep history of the Motor City.

Opened in 1928, the 80,000 square feet of space at the Detroit Historical Museum features more than 600 artifacts.

Detroit Zoo

Ready for a day of fun? Visit the Detroit Zoo for wonderful day with the animals. The Zoo was established in 1928, after the development of the Detroit Zoological Society, years before. Some of the first animal exhibits at the Zoo included the Bear Dens, Sheep Rock, Bird House, Elk Exhibit, the Primate House, Baboon Rock and the Reptile House. This Detroit area zoo was the first in America to have cage-free exhibits. Not only is this incredible zoo home to more than 270 species of animals, it remains active in several Species Survival Plans, to preserve critically endangered species.

The zoo's Arctic Ring of Life remains the largest polar bear exhibit in North America, with its 300,000 gallon aquarium. Have fun walking through the 70-foot-long underwater tunnel, to see the bears up close. The Australian Outback Adventure features red kangaroos and red-neck wallabies in two-acres. Before leaving the zoo, be sure to ride the Wild Adventure Simulator Ride, the Carousel, the miniature railroad and enjoy a show in the 3-D/4-D Theater. Stay close to this must-see attraction in nearby Roseville or Sterling Heights, as a guest of Best Western hotels to enjoy your time in Rock City.

Ford Field

Opened in August 2002, Ford Field is home to the Detroit Lions of the NFL. Seating more than 65,000 fans, Ford Field hosted Super Bowl XL in 2006, and has been the home of the MAC Championship game since 2004. Fans travel in from all over Detroit to catch a Lions game during the fall - from as far north as Sterling Heights, to western Detroit suburbs like Allen Park, and Romulus. Aside from sporting events, Ford Field has hosted major musical performances from acts like Taylor Swift, and Kid Rock, a Michigan native.

Joe Louis Arena

Home to the legendary NHL franchise Detroit Red Wings, Joe Louis Arena is one of the most iconic structures in Detroit. Opened in 1979, The Joe has seen championships, records broken, and plenty of squid on the ice – a famous display of appreciation from fans as they toss a squid onto the ice from the crowd when one of the Red Wings scores a hat trick.

Make the trip into downtown Detroit from nearby cities like Allen Park or Woodhaven during the fall and into the spring for all the exciting action of Red Wings hockey. The Joe seats nearly 21,000 fans during hockey games, and can be extended to nearly 22,000 for concerts.

The Palace of Auburn Hills

First opened in 1988, The Palace of Auburn Hills has been a landmark of entertainment in the Detroit metro area. Home to the professional sports, and the stage for many live musical performances, The Palace of Auburn Hills is set in the Auburn Hills, a fine city just minutes from nearby Sterling Heights, and Roseville – it's also a short drive from downtown Detroit.

Throughout the year, The Palace, as it's commonly known, features exciting sports action. Visit during the fall and check out the Detroit Pistons as they battle their way through the rest of the NBA.
