Michigan Hotel Reservations
See authentic history in Michigan. Cross Village, located in northern Michigan, is one of the oldest settlements in the state. This once-thriving fishing and lumber town, was known as the "Land of the Cross" by the area's Native American Ottawa Indians.
The name was derived from the white cross placed on a bluff near Lake Michigan in 1675, by Father Jacques Marquette. A replica of the cross remains in its place today.
Summertime visitors have fun at Cross Village Blissfest, the annual folk music festival. Enjoy a scenic drive from Cross Village south to Harbor Springs, through the "Tunnel of Trees." This beautiful tree-lined road winds along the shore of Lake Michigan. The fall foliage is absolutely breathtaking along the drive.
