Cranbrook Institute of Science
Detroit area residents and visitors ready for a fun day of learning about science, have a wonderful option in Bloomfield Hills. The Cranbrook Institute of Science, established in 1904 by George and Ellen Booth, is a wonderful science and history museum. Education has always been a focus of this incredible center.
The museum began as the Brookside School for Children in 1922 and later became the Cranbrook School for Boys, in 1927. To celebrate the museum's 50th anniversary, a life-sizes statue of a Stegosaurus was installed.
Schedule plenty of time to stroll through the center's eleven permanent galleries. The Our Dynamic Earth features the Ice Ages Come and Go and Mastodons Did Not Survive, while the Wasserman Hall features the Flint Anthropology Gallery and the Woodlands Den.
